The Daily Grind

The Door is a character study depicting the cycle of abuse as suffered by Maura, (Lonna Kingsbury). As it shows in the film, she was abused as a child by her Father. We live through one day and night of her tortured life.

In her carrying the burden of living the cycle of abuse, she seeks relationships that are likewise abusive. After years of conditioning by her Father, this is the only type of attention she can truly process.

In the end, she does have a soul wrenching epiphany masterfully performed on-screen by Miss Kingsbury but will Maura be able to garner the strength needed to break free from the bonds of abuse and escape from "The Door."
